„Happiness to me is feeling at peace with yourself and your world. It is a state of calm knowing and trust and appreciation for all the big and little things in your life. It is love and laughter and memorable moments that make your heart expand and tingle.“

Kelly Giles

This makes her happy:
What makes me happy is being near the sea – the sound of the waves, the smell of the air, the feeling of the sand beneath my feet. Spending time with the people I love also makes me happy – my son and partner’s laughter, the weird conversations with my friend over good food, exploring the world together. However, one of the most important aspects of happiness in my opinion is giving back. Making a difference in someone’s world and seeing them nurture and fulfill their potential is a feeling that can only be described as proud admiration.

Kelly on how happiness increases when you follow your intuition:
I can’t say that I ‚prioritize‘ happiness as I try to focus on what my intuition tells me I need in a specific moment, prioritizing for me conjures up images of another thing I should add to my to do list and that is long enough as it is! I prefer to go with how I feel, for example, just recently the weather was nice and I was getting close to finishing work and decided I wanted to go to the beach afterwards – and that’s exactly what I did. And it was great! I had no expectations of ‚this will make me happy‘ or ‚this will be great‘, I simply wanted to be by the sea in the sun. Another example, which also happened recently, was when I was watching TV in the evening to help me decompress from my day. I started to feel the urge that this wasn’t what I needed in that moment and what I did need was to turn everything off, light a candle, take my socks off to feel my feet on the ground and stretch my body out with some yoga moves. And do you know what? It was far more relaxing, decompressing and nurturing than watching TV on Amazon Prime!

Her Happy Tip for you:
Accept that you are not always going to feel happy and that’s ok. This is real life and our emotions are never static. They flow and change moment to moment every day. Happiness is great but negative emotions are also useful and can serve a good reminder that something isn’t working that well in our lives or isn’t in alignment with who we really are.

„Happiness will increase in your life when you truly listen to the little whispers and nudges that niggle at you in the back of your mind. They will always point you in the right direction to your own happiness.”
